Nice. I like it.

Yeah, that works for me. What hasn’t been working the past couple of hours is the bloody Internet connection, so I had the joy of trying to deal with SBC buncha-Yahoos DSL support, which is always a heartwarming experience. They said they wouldn’t be able to get an actual technician to check for problems until Saturday, but they never suggested moving the friggin’ router to another phone jack.
Problem solved. Grumble grumble.
This is doubtless a consequence of the other problem which manifested itself in the past couple of days. The roof here has (for reasons I’ve never been able to fathom) an internal gutter system, which mighta worked once (although I’ve no actual certainty of this), but which tends to get increasingly clogged with redwood needles and other debris which falls from above in subtropical rain forests. Well, something got horrifically clogged up, just as we started getting close to an inch of rain an hour. The net result was a cataract running down the outside of one of the upstairs windows, and thence into the wall, and above the ceiling of the first floor, from whence it dripped, copiously.
I had every pot, pan, wastebasket and Tupperware container of any size pressed into service collecting water, and there was so much of it that many of ‘em overflowed between the time I emptied ‘em and went to be and the following morning.
That got sorted yesterday. My roofer, a remarkably pleasant British fellow named Chris New (and if you’re in SCruz County and you need roofing work, do yourself the favor of calling Chris), came by and got things so at least the water outside stayed on the outside. He’ll be back in a week to put together a more permanent better arrangement.
Jeebub, how’d it get to be Thursday already? I really want to get up to San Francisco before I go back to work this coming Tuesday and get some miso ramên at Sapporo-ya. If you’re ever in the area of Japan Center, and you like noodles at all, you owe it to yourself to check out this place. Best miso ramên I’ve ever had, including what I got in Tôkyô.

HEY!! Who’re you callin’ a sissy?
Pretty. I like.
Hell, _I’d_ like to get out to San Francisco before next week. I think you’re the more likely one to do so, though. =P
Chris New is FABULOUS. Frankly, he’s the best in Santa Cruz county, and everyone knows it. He did my roof. And will be fixing it again post-fire.
The miso ramen at Sapporo-ya has been a long-standing favorite of mine, and a common meal during the year+ I lived in SF. Damn tasty stuff. Nice to hear an informed opinion rate it as highly as my own taste buds did.
Best miso ramen anyplace _I’ve_ been, including Tokyo. I _must_ tell you _all_ about Tokyo!
