In Which I Are a Idjit
For a smart guy, I can be very slow sometimes. Very slow. I was looking at Ayrkain’s WordPress blog, which is part of his domain, and I thought to ask him how he had gotten that set up.
And he told me it was being hosted on Quartz, the service provider run by silentreality and deviant_mute up in Vancouver, on which the excellent-and-I-don’t-do-stuff-there-nearly-enough irreality.net is hosted, as well as a bunch of other excellent sites, such as the aforementioned ayrkain.com and the agent139’s joinmycult.com. They offer a pile of services at an extremely reasonable rate, and I’ve just signed myself up for a year’s worth of their top-of-the-line HI-CORE service, including 15 GB of disk, IP blocking(!), WordPress, Mambo(!!), several other blogging, photo management, etc., packages, all for about what I’m paying my shiftless, no-account, we-don’t-offer-MySQL current ISP.
stonemirror.org—not currently registered, I dropped it last year—coming soon to an 1nt4rWe8 near you, and once that happens, I’ll move over the .com and .net as well.
This is bitchin’. Budgie-boy actually did me a fuckin’ favor.

ayrkain.com
Yeah, that’s what I said.
(Fixed now.)
Don’t you love it when that happens? People trying to screw with you end up pushing you exactly in the direction you need to go. Instead of being messed up, you wind up better than when you started?
Hi Stonemirror..Just stopped by to say *Hey* BTW..I saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith..It was slow to warm up but It was a Kicker to watch..
I like pair.com better. I set up my own wordpress blog on it with no issues and have mutiple mysql databases…
I redid my site design last night, by the way. Minimalist…
I’m getting a bunch more than pair’s top end package offers, for about half the price.
dude, looks like someone bought stonemirror.org right out from underneath you!

Hey, nice “hrih”, Al. _I_ coulda given you one of those….

Oh, balls. What moron could have possibly decided he could make money off that one? Hm. I’ll have to run through my list of known morons, and see whether there are any likely candidates.
Well, I’ll have to have Quartz set up the dot-com, or I’ll register the dot-info (since my mail goes through the dot-net at the moment), or some other domain, on their site; it’s only parked on my current provider. No worries, this isn’t a problem, just makes the transition a bit less smooth. Of course there are a million other possibilities, and I’d be very happy if the same moron decided he needed to register ‘em all for a decade.
Verio seemed to believe it was available, but I haven’t gotten the provisioning confirmation from them, so I guess we’ll see…
Isn’t “chemognostic” one of Lumpy’s aliases?
Yeah, it is. Three of those were picked up as spam comments by Akismet; he must’ve been using an open proxy to try ‘n’ post, I unscreened one of ‘em to take a closer look at, and deleted the rest.
Poor chump has always been a slow learner…
Lumpy bought “stonemirror.org” just to spite you? Lame.
Totally lame. I thought it’d be worth un-moderating those messages just to demonstrate what a nonce he is. Lamer still, he registered a domain I don’t particularly give a shit about—I’m not a non-profit, and .net (which I own and plan to continue to own) and .com (ditto) are much more suitable to my activities—out into 2015! He musta sunk at least a Franklin—which, being an unemployed mental case, he can probably ill-afford—into that. Wotta maroon!
I’d simply thought to use that one as a convenience, but if I can get him to further impoverish himself, it’s probably worth mentioning that I’m very interested in stonemirror.biz, stonemirror.tv, stonemirror.na, and stonemirror.to.
Just for starts. In fact, I think I’ll register ‘em all, for twenty-five years each, in about nineteen hours…
Boy mm-boy, I sure hope nobody registers any of those before I do! I doubt I could think of any other domains I could use instead!
Like I say, the thing I love about stupid people is that you can always count on ‘em to be stupid.
For once (and probably not for very long), I am struck speechless. This is beyond pathetic, beyond psychotic, beyond issue-tastic.
What. A. Freak.
I notice he’s used a false name and address, probably against the registrar’s policy and possibly enough to get his registration revoked.
Oh, and just b/c you use stonemirror.net for your mail doesn’t mean that http://www.stonemirror.net can’t be pointed at a different host. Mail is routed according to the MX records, which appear to be properly set up. You can point both stonemirror.net and http://www.stonemirror.net to your new host without a hitch in your mail delivery. Just as long as you don’t change the MX records…
Pretty radical, huh, “Randy”?
We havin’ fun yet, Oliver? (Written any good books lately?)
